PUBLISHER'S LETTER

Welcome to the new on-line Community Pharmacist magazine. We hope you enjoy this new version and won’t have any trouble navigating through the various sections. Really, nothing much has changed, except now you will be able to access the magazine electronically instead of waiting for it to arrive through the mail. In addition, we will be posting new items regularly, so please check back frequently for updated information.

Community Pharmacist has always been known as that unique national magazine with a down-home, grass-roots approach. The nation’s pharmacists have always looked to us for local and state news they can’t readily find in other national magazines. That format remains the same.

In addition, a significant number of pharmacists look to us for their continuing education needs. We have been an ACPE provider for over 34 years. We accredit both live and home-study courses. Now you will be able to access our popular home-study C.E. lessons on the web-site. And, for those pharmacists and technicians who would like to receive or continue to receive the home-study courses through the mail, just let us know and we can send them in print form. Just call or e-mail Ken Koch at 800-922-8513, kkoch@elfpublications.com.

Contributing to Community Pharmacist

A highlight of our publishing style is shining the spotlight on a regular basis on the people who make up the pharmacy industry. And not just the movers and the shakers, but the everyday pharmacists who make up this great profession and have contributed to not only to its heritage and history but to the heritage and history of this great country of ours.

If you would like us to consider a true-life story or experience, a personal remembrance of years gone by and/or photos to be used on the Website, here are some simple guidelines:

■ Stories should not be more than 800 words in length. Please print or type on the first page of each manuscript your name, title or occupation, address, daytime phone number and e-mail address (if available). Please supply the same on the back of photos.

■ Please note the year and location of any memory, photograph or drawing that you send to the magazine.

■ Please do not send cherished original photographs or drawings that can be damaged or lost. Please send a duplicate photo or low resolution digital scan for publication use. Please identify the people in any photographs that you send.

■  Published material is edited, and in some cases only excerpts will be used.

■ Send your material to: Community Pharmacist, 5285 W. Louisiana Ave., Lakewood, CO 80232 or e-mail to elfedit@qwest.net. (Please be sure to address your envelope or the subject line of your e-mail to Contributed Editorial.

These guidelines will become a part of “Contributed Articles” which can be found by clicking  “Contact Us” on the Web site.

As I said at the start of this column, I hope you find the Web-site easy to navigate. If you have a suggestion on how we might improve our presentation, we would welcome your suggestions.

            Until next time….
