Roxane

Roxane Laboratories announced it has resumed shipments of its fluticasone propionate nasal spray, 50 mcg. Roxane said its generic product is therapeutically equivalent and AB rated to GlaxoSmithKline’s Flonase nasal spray. A district court decision denied a request to extend an order temporarily suspending FDA approval of Roxane’s product, Roxane Labs reported.

Fougera

Fougera recently introduced mupirocin ointment USP, 2%, in a unit-of-use package, a product AB rated to GlaxoSmithKline’s Bactroban, according to Fougera. Fougera’s ointment is available in a 0.9 gram unit-of-use Foilpac, box of 72, as well as a 22 gram tube. The unit-of-use packaging is ideal for the hospital setting, and each Foilpac is barcoded to promote cost containment and ensure billing accuracy, Fougera said.

Birchwood Laboratories introduced its A-E-R Traveler pre-moistened witch hazel towelettes. The individually wrapped items for anoperineal hygiene are designed to sooth irritated tissues and relieve discomfort associated with hemorrhoids, rectal or vaginal itching or other needs, Birchwood says. Gate Pharmaceuticals has introduced a tablet formulation of Lofibra (fenofibrate), indicated as an addition to diet for the treatment of lipid disorders such as elevated cholesterol and triglycerides. The product is available in 54 mg and 160 mg tablets for once daily administration. According to Gate, fenofibrates may reduce triglyceride levels by 20 to 50 percent and may increase high-density lipoprotein cholesterol by 10 to 20 percent. Gate also offers Lofibra in capsule form.

Adams

Adams Respiratory Therapeutics launched Mucinex D, an FDA-approved OTC product. The extended-release combination formulation contains 600 mg guaifenesin and 60 mg pseudoephedrine HCl, and helps clear nasal and sinus congestion and thins and loosens mucus, according to the company. Like Adams’ Mucinex and Mucinex DM products, the new option received NDA approval. There are no national or store brand equivalent products on the market, Adams said.
